“What has this Union become? First, our esteemed High Ministers decided to start an everlasting war with the Arru'Thal over the race of Qo'Xim, then they let Karssians join us, with barely any time of observation and negotiation. To make matters worse, the mighty Testrans decided to provide help and support for Humans refugees. The members of this Movement will not stand by while Union lives are lost in pointless battle for undeserving races.” - The Enlightenment Movement Declaration

ELIZA TOOK A DEEP BREATH and tried to gain a measure of calm. She was the first to look away. She hated confrontations. So she busied herself with cleaning the table, waiting for Pradan to calm himself too. She wasn’t so lucky.

“What have you done?” Pradan hissed and she flinched.

“What have you done to me? You ruined me! You foolish human! I never wanted you, I have no need of you. You think I’d touch you? That I’d have a child with you? With you?” He was getting more and more worked up.

Every word hit Eliza like a devastating blow. Her emotions were all over the place. She was angry. She was insulted. She was humiliated. She felt appalled. The tears were threatening to fall, they were gathered there, in the corner of her eyes ready to spill over. She hated to give him the satisfaction, but she couldn’t help herself, however, to question whether he may be right or not. She hated him. At that moment, with her chest ready to burst from a maelstrom of feelings and her own anger pulsing through her veins, she hated him.

“Why couldn’t you behave like a proper Karssian lady? You express your opinions freely, you dress in an unseemly manner. You’re not fit for a Karssian! You ruined my reputation, my image!”

She whirled around and lashed back.

“You jerk! You can shove your reputation up your ass, for all I care. What more do you want from me? I’m here because your people blackmailed mine.” She pressed her lips tight to hold back a sob. “You think I want to be here? With an asshole who doesn’t do anything but ignore me?”

She felt so angry, her mind was in a haze. She felt lightheaded. Her tears started flowing, the dam has been ruptured. She got angrier because of it.

Pradan advanced on her, growling. “Perhaps I should have mounted you like a common whore right from the beginning. Perhaps the Arru’Thal are right. Human females are good for nothing else.”

She picked up a wine pitcher and hurled it in his direction. Then she ran to her rooms and sealed the doors behind her.

The sounds of dishes being smashed against walls could be heard all the way to her rooms on the second level. She dropped to the floor exhausted and sobbed. She wanted to hit something. To raze the entire castle to the ground. She wanted to smash her fist through a wall. She wanted to find a small dark hole and hide there. She wanted to just let go.
